Banana Republic The Work Wear Edit

Fashion

As summer passes on by, the kids are getting their pencil cases prepped, ready for a return to school. This means the new school uniform for adults is hitting the rails with a lot of emails entering my inbox with “Work Wear Edits”. Now I love building a capsule wardrobe for the office but I’ve been a little disappointed with too much greys and blacks and the basic skirt suit that seem to be around of late.

My office wardrobe is a little more eclectic. By day as a Director of a fruit company I dress in printed cropped trousers (mostly from Boden), a smart top, my favourite blazer from La Redoute and always, always fabulously bright heels. By night and at the weekend when I am editing this fabulous blog and attending shows it’s a little more bling, slick jumpsuits and designer tees with skinny jeans.

When it comes to my office wardrobe I like to ban the greys, reduce the blacks and neutralise the navy. I’m all for brights. On a recent sojourn to London to meet a fellow 35 under 35 darling, I popped into Banana Republic as I was running a little early. Oh my! So much colour, so much texture I just had to pop back in after my drinks date and browse the collection properly.

Whether you are a 9-5er with a daily commute or a thriving creative working from your home studio. Here’s two different outfit choices from Banana Republic that I think you can rock this season.

The Blue Lightweight Wool Boy Crop feel so comfortable on, the crop is perfect to work with flats or heels and the cobalt blue is a perfect “pep me up” for an autumnal day. They are a strong hue. I would recommend wearing with a crisp white shirt or blouse. Here I’ve teamed it with the Notched Sleeveless Popover Blouse in white, it also comes in a grey which will compliment the blue well. Style with chunky silver jewellery and your go to city handbag. Styling with a black biker jacket will be a great look for post work cocktails with the girls.

If you’re more of a jeans wearing kinda girl then you can really bring the look up to style speed with a refreshing print blouse. This online exclusive at Banana Republic the Abstract Print Boyfriend Shirt in pink blush, is a great way to feel you have an office wardrobe without going for the white shirt concept. I love these Audrey Huarache Oxford flats. A perfect match for black skinny jeans and brilliant for dashing around from event to lunch, to a shoot to back home and a bit of writing before the day ends.

There was the most fabulous bright orange shirt on display in the store which I can’t find online. But here is a taste of all the brights available; blue is a big colour this season at Banana Republic and I also love the glasses print that they are using.

I bought this awesome tee whilst I was there which I will wear to New Zealand Fashion Week.
