With so many big shows to attend at London Fashion Week, it always makes a refreshing change to be at an Off Schedule show. Fashion International hosted a fabulous VIP evening at the Charing Cross Hotel, bringing together emerging and established designers on a multi designer runway.
Here at Presents we are all about giving up and coming designers a platform to showcase their work, so this is the perfect opportunity.
One of my favourite designers to show at LFW is Omar Mansoor. He’s been showcasing since 2008 and we have featured his collections often. A designer with great talent, an eye for what women want to wear and best known for his stand-out eveningwear with Eastern influence.
“Confetti” – AW14
For Autumn/Winter, Omar Mansoor took us away to dreams of a classic English wedding. So often we see a mix of black, ivory and ruby red as the colour scheme for weddings at this time and Omar brought together his signature style of classic tailoring with a touch of Eastern magic.
Recently I became a fan of the jumpsuit and I am pleased to say that Omar Mansoor has them to stay for AW14. Creating a fabulous silhouette that seems simple from afar – Mansoor applies beautiful intricate details to his collection. Delicate embroidery, layers of sheer fabrics, asymmetrical hemlines, dramatic necklines , with a softness in the silk jersey and crepes chosen even though there is structure in his construction.
One of my favourite pieces was the beautiful black sparkling like the night sky dress with a sheer finish. There was also the show stopping white jersey dress; could this be the Bride herself? The detailing on the neckline was exquisite and very different, almost Grecian in appearance.
Inspired by the colours of romance: lots of deep reds, black, and ivory white. The majority of the collection is based on evening-wear, but some of the pieces would be fit for work and perhaps a low-key Sunday brunch. I can tell you know I will be rocking an Omar Mansoor jumpsuit to work one day – power in the boardroom!
The pieces from the collection can be viewed at ‘Amaka’ at Westfield Designer Villlage and ‘Creativations-Chelsea’ on Fulham Road.
You can follow Omar Mansoor on twitter for more information.
