The French are known for their style and sophistication, but they are also known as one of the most romantic nations. Remember the La Redoute Language of Love campaign? I still gush when I see Mr La Redoute talking French to the unsuspecting participants.
La Redoute Valentine’s Day Competition
To celebrate Valentine’s Day I am styling a red outfit, the colour of love, from the latest La Redoute collections for date night. I have to admit I am not a massive fan of the colour red. But there are so many hues that you really can make it work for you.
Long Camouflage Print T-shirt
A great shape, with a relaxed fit. I loved how the faux leather sleeve ends worked well with my wax pencil skirt (from French Connection). It gives it an edgy look and the camouflage print adds definition. I teamed it with a little gold camera necklace to add a touch of glamour.
I didn’t want to match my reds too closely and overdo the look. So I styled the burgundy suede with black patent t-bar heels from Soft Grey.
The heels are 10cm, the perfect “hyper feminine” height to elongate and slim the legs.
La Romance, your romantic stories
La Redoute and I would love to hear your most romantic story. The French are well known for their romantic ways, but we want your help to prove that us Brits can give them a run for their money. In fact they are running a competition to find the top three romantic stories and you could be in with the chance of winning a year’s subscription to another great French brand – My Little Box – giving you the opportunity enjoy little parcels of love every month.
My Little Box
Here is my romantic story that I have shared with La Redoute and I am now sharing with you;
La Proposition, The Proposal
The story starts on a not so secretive weekend to Paris. Mr knows it’s my favourite city and I worked out a long while before the trip that it was where we were headed. A journey on the Eurostar, starting with champagne, a gorgeous room at L’Hôtel Daniel right in the heart of the 8th arrondissement near the Champs-Élysées. We went on a walk of the city. It was a mildly hot day, but Mr wore his blazer. Odd I thought.
We held hands as we walked through the Jardin des Tulieres, stopping to admire the view every so often. We crossed the river to walk along to Notre Dame and then came to the Pont Neuf. The little island in front of the cathedral. It was here we had a sit down to rest our legs, and it was here that he got down on one knee. Produced a ring from the pocket of his blazer, a beautiful Princess cut diamond and cluster set in white gold.
He talked at the speed of light, the world seemed to spin and stop at the same time. He said he had something to ask me, I answered with Yes and the rest of the weekend was just a magical haze of engaged bliss.
