Having just flown back from New Zealand Fashion Week, we are not covering much of London Fashion Week this season. Which is a shame as it is Spring/Summer – our favourite season. We can’t let this big event slip by unnoticed; so we maintain our concept of promoting the up and coming designers and Omar Mansoor is just that.

For his 7th season showing at London Fashion Week, fashion designer Omar Mansoor took us on a journey to the Golden Age of the Opera, with his Spring/Summer 14 collection titled Madama Butterfly, after David Belasco’s hit play ‘Madama Butterfly’ staged in London in 1900. This play has two characters, the teenage Butterfly (Cio-Cio-San) who falls in love with an American naval lieutenant in Nagasaki. He abandons her, and then returns with a wife. After a first-night disaster, it became one of the best-loved operas.
There was no first-night disaster for this fabulous Omar Mansoor latest collection. Key colours in the collection were royal blue and black. Omar explained that the “royal blue colour depicts the merry days when the couple is together while black represent the gloom in the story”.
The collection featured sleek gowns trimmed with satin and dresses embellished with filigree embroidery and sequins – beautiful, lyrical, operatic and powerful.
The collection aimed to have a combination of day and evening wear, the range of fabrics from Chantilly lace to Satins and Velvet blended with Lycra for the perfect body shape are a great way to work the day to night look.
Wear to the office, then onto the cocktail bar. Glamourous heels, the perfect clutch and a little leather jacket will complete the look.
