Double Denim

Fashion

On a very autumnal yet unseasonally mild Saturday, myself and Mr headed into Tunbridge Wells for a spot of shopping and lunch before heading up to Yorkshire for a family party. This meant we had a great little window of opportunity to head to Calverley Park in the centre of the town for an autumnal photo shoot.

Double Denim

My latest piece to arrive from French fashion favourite of mine, La Redoute is the Peter Pan collared dark denim shirt from their Soft Grey collection. I have to admit this was destined to be a Marmite piece for me, it was either going to work well or not at all. I remember a few dodgy instances of bad denim shirt selections in my youth and I was hoping this piece wouldn’t bring all of those back. But actually I really love it! I like the weekend casual feel of the shirt, a looser fit and worn straight. No tucking in of the shirt here, that brings back too many memories of school days for my liking.

I accessorised with a chunky neon yellow necklace in order to give a pop of colour to what could be a quite dark outfit and mixed it up a little with the burgundy leopard print pumps I have previously worn, which are also from La Redoute.

I did go for the double denim look for this autumnal Saturday but not two blues at once. For me that is a little too far, so I worked it with my black, wax stripe jeans from Maxx a store in New Zealand.

I do also love how La Redoute have styled it, tucked in with a gold drawstring skirt. A brave look but quite a fun one.

What are your views on double denim? What one piece from your youth do you think you might now be able to pull off?
