The lovely team at the Wedding party fashion and bridal accessories online destination, Weddington Way asked me to take part in their November style challenge. After the big day, how many bridesmaid dresses sit in the closet unworn, never to see the light of day or the sparkle of an evening again.
Life beyond the wedding
Well with this style challenge, I am giving life beyond the wedding to my pick of bridesmaid dress from Weddington Way. The aim is to virtually create a traditional wedding day look as well as a weekend outfit using the same bridesmaid dress. I chose three themes for the future of the bridesmaid dress, after the big day.
If you want to wear a bridesmaid dress again then a structured style is the best way forward and preferably not strapless, as strapless bustier dresses can only work in a few social occasions. It’s better to have straps or sleeves and work with the outfit from there. Cocktail is a great length to wear again. I chose the Alfred sung D448 Bridesmaid Dress in Dahlia colourway. It is a shiny fabric, Dupioni so you need to soften the textures you wear with it, otherwise it can be a bit Mother of the Bride-sque!
Wedding day
Style out with crisp ivory and silver accessories that will work well with your brides dress. Fascinators are really fun for your bridesmaids too.

- Juliet Ivory Woven Fabric Boho Style Box from Vintage styler
Cocktails with the girls
Team the dress with a cropped black leather jacket, a chunky statement necklace and killer heels. A sparkly clutch bag will set the look of fabulously
- Cropped leather jacket House of Fraser
- Lavish Lilac Necklace from Beau Bella UK
- Steve Madden Varcityy Court Shoe from Dune
- Lulu Guinness Clutch from Bag Servant
Day at the races
A day at the races is certainly a great time to style a bridesmaid dress. Accessorise with a gorgeous hat of course, always wear wedges for the race track – there is nothing worse than getting your heels stuck in the grass and I recommend a sophisticated shoulder bag to finish the look. I’ve chosen light accessories here so that the outfit blends together well but the dress is still the star of the show.
- Hat from Gina Foster Millinery
- Celia Cork Wedges from Dune
- MICHAEL Michael Kors Sloan Leather Shoulder Bag in Pale Gold John Lewis
Christmas Party
Christmas Parties are a great time to re-wear your bridesmaid dress. Of course maybe not in the company of those who were at the wedding, but actually it could be a nice way to show the bride that what she has invested in (or you) for her big day, has been worn again. Create a wow factor outfit with gorgeous heels, bold accessories and of course a designer clutch bag. Happy festivities!
