It’s surprisingly mild still for this time of year and normally I am not a huge Autumn/Winter fashion fan. But this season I have embraced the key piece to buy, the winter coat. I’ve actually rather enjoyed browsing the beautiful pastel oversized masculine style coats that seem to be everywhere at the moment.
Oversized Coat | La Redoute
One of my recent weekly lusts featured the Wallis Crepe Coat in gorgeous baby blue but I knew I was seeking a pastel pink coat this season. Yes, I have the standard black winter coats, in fact my coat rack at the moment is all black. So this pastel pink, lined 20% merino wool coat from La Redoute introduces a beautiful spot of colour into my AW14 wardrobe.
It is super warm and I felt very snug in it, in fact maybe too warm for the current weather, but I think come January I am going to savour the warmth it provides. It is a size 10, but is in the oversized style so it does come across a little large. All the better for layering with. It has press stud fastenings rather than a zip, which I rather like, so is a little of the wrap style and is available in grey marl as well as this sumptuous marshmallow pink. Oversized yet super chic. Skinny jeans and winter boots are a perfect accompaniment for wrapping up warm.
This weekend I also styled this gorgeous, super large scarf from La Redoute in burgundy leopard print. It’s so big that it can be used as a wrap, snood, scarf or shawl and adds a touch of warmth to an outfit.
I teamed it with my black bouclé jacket with faux leather sleeves from H&M for some added warmth and boots from Clarks*. I can imagine walking around the winter markets all wrapped up in this great look.
What do you think of the oversized coat trend? Do you buy a new coat each winter or do you stick with the one you love?
